Old Mutual Limited has appointed Dr Phumla Mnganga and Dr Claudia Manning as independent non-executive directors, effective 1 June 2026, as the JSE-listed financial services group continues a structured renewal of its board leadership.

Board Chairman Trevor Manuel welcomed both appointments, describing them as a reflection of the company’s commitment to maintaining the right balance of skills, diversity, and independence. “Their combined knowledge and experience will further strengthen and renew the Board as Old Mutual enters its next phase of disciplined growth and value creation,” he said.

Dr Claudia Manning brings more than 25 years of experience across investment, finance, and economic development. She has previously served as a non-executive director at Adcock Ingram, the Development Bank of Southern Africa, and the Public Investment Corporation. She currently holds directorships at Rothschild & Co South Africa and chairs Mondi Zimele, while serving as Investment Principal at the SA SME Fund. She will join the Responsible Business Committee, the Group Customer Committee, and the Remuneration Committee.

Dr Phumla Mnganga is a seasoned board leader with extensive listed-company experience, currently serving on the boards of Altron, Adcorp, and Exxaro. Her executive career spans senior roles at Gold Circle Group, Tongaat-Hulett, and Deloitte Consulting, covering business transformation, human capital management, and stakeholder engagement. She is also the founder of Lehumo Women’s Investment Holdings. She will serve on the Remuneration Committee and the Technology & Platforms Committee.

Both appointments form part of Old Mutual’s phased board succession strategy, which has been in motion since the company’s incorporation in 2018. The board confirmed that fit and proper assessments were conducted for both directors in line with JSE Listings Requirements, with satisfactory outcomes.
