Motsoene, a seasoned banker with more than 20 years of experience, brings extensive expertise across multiple banking disciplines. He joins African Bank from Absa Business Banking, where he served as Managing Executive for the Commercial Growth Business, driving revenue growth through tailored financial solutions while maintaining strong risk management and customer satisfaction.

His career includes senior leadership roles at Absa Group, Barclays Africa, and Standard Bank Group, spanning Retail Banking, Private Wealth Banking, and Business Banking. Notably, he has held positions such as Interim Chief Operating Officer: Relationship Banking, Managing Executive of Business Enablement, and Regional Managing Executive for KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.

Motsoene’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Business Administration and a BCom Honours in Business Management from UNISA, as well as an MBA from Henley Business School. He has also completed executive development programmes at INSEAD Business School and Absa’s Leadership Development Initiative.

African Bank emphasised that the Business and Commercial division plays a pivotal role in fulfilling its founding mandate to support underserved entrepreneurs and MSMEs. The bank expressed confidence that Motsoene’s innovative leadership and passion for people development will help steer the division towards sustainable growth and long-term success.

“Business and Commercial occupies a very special place in our African Bank story. We are excited to have a leader of Keketso’s calibre on board to steer this division towards the ideals our founders so fervently believed in,” the bank said in a statement.

Motsoene’s appointment signals African Bank’s commitment to strengthening its commercial offering while deepening its support for small and medium enterprises across South Africa.
