BMW South Africa has announced the pricing for the highly anticipated M5 Touring, the latest addition to their performance estate lineup. Following the success of the BMW M3 Touring—whose full allocation was snapped up last year—the M5 Touring arrives with a bang, though it’s not a limited model for the local market. Still, due to global demand, only a limited number of units will be available at launch.

Priced at R2,795,000, the M5 Touring is R30,000 more than its sedan counterpart. Currently, the M3 Touring retails at R2,218,506. Despite the higher price, South Africans are eager to get behind the wheel of this high-performance station wagon, known for blending family practicality with blistering speed.

Under the hood, the M5 Touring boasts a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine generating 430 kW and 750 Nm, paired with an electric motor delivering 145 kW and 280 Nm. The hybrid system combines to produce a staggering 535 kW and 1,000 Nm of torque, with a pre-gearing stage that effectively boosts torque at the transmission input. The electric system offers an all-electric range of up to 70 km (WLTP).

Performance-wise, the M5 Touring accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. With the optional M Driver’s Package, top speed increases to a thrilling 305 km/h.

The vehicle features advanced M Drive Professional settings—including Boost Control, M Laptimer, and Track View—alongside an M sport exhaust system. It rides on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear M-specific rims and tires, emphasizing its sporty character.

Local options include a trailer tow hitch, M Carbon brakes with high gloss black callipers, and an array of interior features such as a newly designed M leather steering wheel, M multifunction seats, M carbon mirror caps, panoramic glass roof, and rear sunblinds.

The estate design offers practical boot space of 500 liters, expandable to 1,630 liters with seats folded down. Buyers can choose from ten exterior colours, including exclusive shades like Isle of Man Green and Marina Bay Blue, alongside options from BMW’s Individual palette, such as Storm Bay and Frozen Deep Grey.

Inside, the cabin boasts six upholstery options and the choice of M Carbon Fibre or BMW Individual Fineline Dark Oak trims.

The R2,795,000 price includes a comprehensive two-year/unlimited km warranty, an eight-year/100,000 km battery warranty, and a five-year/100,000 km maintenance plan, making it a compelling choice for driving enthusiasts seeking both luxury and performance.
