    5-Year Performance-Based Fixed Term Contract Opportunity

    Rand Water Services, a subsidiary of Rand Water, is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their team on a 5-year performance-based fixed term contract. The position is based in Rietvlei, Johannesburg, and the closing date for applications is October 15, 2025.

    Job Summary

    The CFO will provide strategic leadership and oversight of all financial, risk, and supply chain functions to ensure the financial sustainability of Rand Water Services. This role demands accountable stewardship of resources, fair budget allocation, transparent reporting, efficient financial management, and strict adherence to compliance and governance standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Education:
      • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
      • Desired: Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent; Master’s Degree in Finance or Business Leadership is advantageous.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum: 10+ years of senior-level financial management experience, preferably in utilities, infrastructure, or the public sector.
      • Proven track record of leading with fairness, transparency, and accountability in finance.

    Primary Duties

    • Develop and implement financial strategies ensuring accountability, transparency, fairness, and efficiency.
    • Provide financial insights to support executive decisions and sustainable growth.
    • Oversee transparent budgeting processes and efficient resource allocation.
    • Ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting frameworks.
    • Implement governance, compliance, and internal control standards across all finance functions.
    • Direct treasury management frameworks to protect organizational assets.
    • Develop and implement risk management processes.
    • Manage procurement processes that are transparent, fair, and compliant.
    • Coordinate internal and external audit processes to maintain audit readiness.
    • Engage with stakeholders to uphold confidence through transparent financial practices.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Knowledge:
      • Financial reporting, risk management, treasury management, and procurement governance.
      • Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements.
    • Skills:
      • Strategic planning, analysis, and financial leadership.
      • Advanced negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
      • Strong leadership and communication abilities.

    • Ability to balance strategic oversight with attention to detail.
    • Strong relationship-building skills.
    • Commitment to Employment Equity principles.
    • Positive attitude, high moral compass, agility, and savvy.
