South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to embark on a trip to Russia and Ukraine from 12-15 June 2023.

    1. The trip is part of an Africa-led peace mission aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region, particularly in Ukraine, where conflict has been ongoing for several years.
    2. President Ramaphosa will be accompanied by a delegation of African leaders, including the presidents of Ghana, Senegal, and Rwanda, as well as representatives from the African Union and the United Nations.
    3. The delegation will meet with Russian and Ukrainian leaders to discuss ways of resolving the conflict in Ukraine and promoting peace and security in the region. They will also explore opportunities for economic cooperation and trade.
    4. The trip comes at a time when South Africa is seeking to play a more active role in promoting peace and stability in Africa and beyond. President Ramaphosa has emphasized the importance of African-led solutions to conflicts on the continent and has called for greater cooperation among African countries and with international partners.
    5. The trip to Russia and Ukraine is expected to be followed by a visit to the United Kingdom, where President Ramaphosa will attend the G7 summit as a guest. The summit will focus on issues such as climate change, global health, and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
