In the Kia Carens every journey makes a statement. The new Carens makes it boldly.

The all-new Carens does a great job of combining thoroughly modern SUV styling with MPV practicality thanks to space for a total of seven occupants, while showcasing that people movers can be exciting too.

The latest in infotainment and safety technology is in place to keep occupants comfortable, entertained and safe.

Under the bonnet of all derivatives is a powerful yet frugal diesel engine that gives families the best of both worlds, whether tackling daily life or traversing the open road.

“The Kia Carens offers everything that families could ever want, in a package that is modern, good looking and powered by our renowned diesel engine which offers a great balance between performance and efficiency. We are extremely excited to add this model to our ever expanding product range,” says Paul Turnbull, CEO of Kia South Africa.

    A bold new design

Kia’s design language combines a bold stance with an aggressive front and striking LED daytime running lights.

Star-map inspired LED headlights offer both a distinctive signature look and enhanced illumination which contributes to family safety and style. This theme is continued at the rear with star map tail lamps.

An interior that is made for families

Kia believes that when you travel with ones who matter, the outside should feel just as special as within. Stepping into the Carens feels like entering a space that just gets you. From the immersive Dual Panoramic Display to the sleek D-cut steering wheel and the smart simplicity, every element is designed to keep your senses in sync.

The new Carens offers an exceptionally spacious seven-seater cabin that doesn’t just impress, it resonates. The interior provides ample legroom, headroom and comfortable seating across all three rows for a relaxed family drive, while a spacious boot is ready to carry all that a family needs

A wide, dual panoramic display has been crafted for intuitive success so that everyone can easily stay in touch and engaged, merging a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and digital integrated cluster with 12-inch TFT screen.

    A powerful, frugal, drivetrain

In South Africa the Kia Carens will be offered exclusively with the brands 1.5-litre diesel engine which offers 85kW at 4 000rpm and 250Nm between 1500 and 2750rpm. This engine does a great job of balancing performance and efficiency and will use just 5,0 litres per 100km on the combined cycle when paired to the manual transmission or 5,3 litres per 100km when mated to the automatic transmission.

Excellent ride quality and passenger comfort is ensured thanks to a MacPherson strut front suspension configuration and a coupled torsion beam rear suspension layout.

As the Carens has been designed to carry people, no compromises have been made in terms of safety. All derivatives feature ABS with Electronic Stability Control and Hill Start Assist Control. All derivatives are also fitted with a multitude of airbags that include driver, passenger, front thorax and curtain airbags.

    Four models to choose from

The Kia Carens will be offered in four model derivatives, wearing LS, LX, EX and SX badging. All models utilise the same 1.5-litre engine but offer a variety of standard spec to ensure that there is a Carens that matches every family’s price point.

    Kia Carens LS

LS models are available exclusively with the six-speed manual gearbox and are fitted with 16-inch Styled wheels and feature partial LED rear combination lamps. The interior is well equipped with a driver’s seat that is height adjustable as well as cloth and artificial leather upholstery, a centre armrest with integrated storage box and manual air conditioning. An eight-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality as well as Bluetooth with voice recognition and a six-speaker sound system takes care of the infotainment Ahead of the driver is a Supervision 4.2-inch TFT LCD cluster and assisting with parking is a rear park distance warning system.

The Carens LX steps things up with the six-speed automatic transmission, 17-inch Crystal Cut dual-tone alloy wheels, electric folding mirrors and roof rails. The interior gains a back seat panel with a pocket, artificial leather upholstery, cruise control and a wireless smartphone charger.
