Lexus SA Announces New Lexus LX 700h Urban

    December 3, 2025By Staff Writer
    New Lexus LX 700h Urban

Lexus South Africa is proud to announce the arrival of the new Lexus LX 700h Urban, a refined and more accessible hybrid model within the brand’s flagship SUV range. With its introduction, Lexus strengthens its commitment to progressive electrification, exceptional craftsmanship and delivering products that directly respond to customer needs.

The LX is Lexus’ flagship SUV, defined by the concept of ‘effortless and refined driving on any road around the world.’ It blends exceptional driving performance with the signature Lexus comfort, handling diverse terrains while providing a luxurious driving experience.

Available in three striking grades – Overtrail, F Sport, and now Urban – the LX 700h delivers exhilarating performance. The 3.5-litre V6 hybrid engine in the petrol variant generates an impressive 341kW of power, making this LX the most powerful model to date.

For customers who prefer a diesel option, the LX (F Sport and Overtrail) offers 225kW of power. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, it delivers quick and seamless gear shifts, whether driving in the city or tackling challenging terrain.

New Entry Point into Electrified Flagship Luxury

The LX 700h Urban follows the successful debut of the refreshed Lexus LX range, which introduced the powerful 1MT-HEV hybrid powertrain to local customers. This advanced system replaced the outgoing LX 600 petrol model and has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Responding to demand for a more attainable hybrid flagship, Lexus has discontinued the VIP grade, making way for the new Urban grade without altering the rest of the LX line-up.

    Expanded 2025 LX Line-Up

The new Urban grade complements the existing LX 500d F Sport, LX 500d Overtrail, LX 700h F Sport and LX 700h Overtrail models. Serving as a seven-seater option within the hybrid range, the LX 700h Urban retains the highly capable 1MT-HEV system, underscoring Lexus’ commitment to both performance and efficiency.

    Design and Finish

While maintaining the familiar and highly regarded design themes of the LX portfolio, the LX 700h Urban incorporates premium finishing touches aligned with Lexus’ luxury philosophy. Crafted with the urban customer in mind, it offers a sophisticated yet commanding road presence.

    Urban vs Overtrail

The Urban grade prioritises refinement and everyday luxury, whereas the Overtrail grade offers a more rugged, adventure-oriented character. The Urban model features a Centre Differential Lock, while the Overtrail enhances off-road capability with Centre, Front and Rear Locking Differentials. The Urban rides on striking 22-inch alloy wheels with 265/50 R22 tyres, contrasting with the Overtrail’s 18-inch wheels and tyres optimised for challenging terrain.

Exterior detailing further distinguishes the two grades: the Urban employs chrome and stainless finishes for a premium appearance, while the Overtrail adopts blacked-out elements to emphasise its tough persona. This differentiation extends to mirrors and interior trim – Urban models feature colour-coded mirrors and elegant Shimamoku wood, while Overtrail models receive black mirrors and Black Ash accents.

Colour Choices for the LX 700h Urban

The LX 700h Urban will be offered in a curated palette of premium exterior colours. Standard options include White Quartz, Sonic Titanium and Manganese Luster. Terrane Khaki and Graphite Black will also be available through customer order.

    Hybrid Powertrain Performance

The LX 700h Urban continues to deliver the strong hybrid performance that defines the latest LX generation. It is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo hybrid system, producing 305kW and 650Nm from the petrol engine alone. The electric motor contributes an additional 36kW and 250Nm, resulting in a total system output of 341kW. No mechanical changes have been made to the existing hybrid drivetrain.

    Towing Capability and Durability

The LX 700h Urban upholds the robust towing credentials expected from a full-size Lexus SUV, offering a braked towing capacity of 3500kg and an unbraked capacity of 750kg.

    Pricing and Warranty

Lexus South Africa is also proud to introduce a comprehensive 7-year warranty across its entire vehicle range, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to quality, craftsmanship and long-term customer confidence. This extended warranty reflects Lexus’ belief that true luxury is experienced not only in the drive, but also in lasting peace of mind.
