British automaker Jaguar has made a significant announcement that marks the end of an era for the brand’s sports cars. The company revealed that it will be producing its final petrol-powered sports car in 2024, signaling a shift towards becoming an all-electric car manufacturer by 2025.

    1. To commemorate this milestone, Jaguar will release a special edition of its iconic F-Type sports car called the ZP Edition. Only 150 units will be built worldwide, with just two destined for the South African market in coupe form. A convertible option will be available in select markets.
    2. The F-Type ZP Edition will feature unique exterior and interior touches curated by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Bespoke division. It will be powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 423kW of power and 700Nm of torque. With an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds.
    3. Inspired by the race-winning ‘Project ZP’ cars that marked the successful racing debut of the iconic Jaguar E-Type in 1961, the F-Type ZP Edition will be available in two color schemes: Oulton Blue Gloss with Mars Red and Ebony interior, or Crystal Grey Gloss with Navy Blue and Ebony cabin.
    4. The special edition F-Type will boast unique features such as hand-painted Gloss White race car-style roundels on the doors, Gloss Black exterior accents, brake calipers, and Diamond Turned 20-inch alloy wheels. It will also sport F-Type ZP Edition branding on the fenders, tread plates, and dashboard, along with a limited edition “One of 150” SV Bespoke commissioning plaque.
    5. While the petrol-powered F-Type ZP Edition signifies the end of an era for Jaguar’s sports cars, the company has plans to embrace electric vehicles (EVs) going forward. It is reported that Jaguar is working on three new electric models, including a large SUV to rival the Bentley Bentayga, a sportier touring saloon car, and a large executive sedan. These models will be built on a unique electric platform, with each offering power outputs of at least 335kW (450bhp).
    6. Jaguar’s decision to transition to electric vehicles reflects the global automotive industry’s trend toward electrification and sustainable mobility. The company aims to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and meet the evolving demands of consumers seeking eco-friendly transportation options without compromising performance and luxury.
