ILF Consulting Engineers, an international engineering and consulting firm, has entered into a partnership agreement with Hyphen Hydrogen Energy for a green hydrogen project in southern Namibia.

    1. The project will be located in the Tsau // Khaeb National Park near Lüderitz and has a planned production capacity of 350,000 tons per year of green hydrogen at full scale.
    2. ILF, with its experience in green hydrogen projects in Canada, Finland, and Austria, will provide project management services, technical expertise, procurement and contract advice, and implementation expertise on socioeconomic development goals.
    3. The project aims to create 15,000 construction jobs, 3,000 permanent jobs, and achieve 30% local procurement.
    4. Hyphen is a joint venture between Nicholas Holdings Limited and ENERTRAG, with the Namibian government holding a 24% equity stake in the project.
    5. The project also intends to produce one million tons of green ammonia annually by 2027, with plans to increase production to two million tons by 2029, primarily for export.
    6. The CEO of Hyphen, Marco Raffinetti, sees ILF’s hydrogen expertise as crucial for meeting project timelines and supporting Namibia’s development objectives.
    7. Dr. Michel Kneller, Director of Hydrogen at ILF, considers the Namibian project a significant contribution to the global energy transition and describes it as a “lighthouse project.”
