Airlink facing safety concerns in Windhoek

    August 25, 2023By Staff Writer
    Rodger Foster - Airlink CEO
    1. Airlink, a South African regional airline, has announced the temporary suspension of its air cargo operations at Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport.
    2. The suspension is a result of the new ground handling and cargo service provider at the airport lacking the necessary approvals, certifications, and protocols for aviation security, dangerous goods handling, and cargo handling.
    3. Airlink emphasized that continuing cargo operations without these requirements would compromise the integrity of its operations and international aviation safety and security.
    4. The airline reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate with the airport’s new service provider, Paragon, and has dispatched additional personnel to assist with passenger processing.
    5. While cargo operations are suspended, Airlink’s passenger services to Windhoek will continue unaffected.
    6. Airlink operates multiple daily return flights between Johannesburg and Windhoek, as well as additional flights between Cape Town and Windhoek.
    7. The shortage of ground handling equipment at Windhoek has caused flight delays, but Airlink is making efforts to minimize inconvenience by making up for lost time whenever possible.

Airlink expressed apologies to its customers for any inconvenience and disruption caused by the temporary suspension of cargo operations and directed affected parties to contact the Airlink Cargo customer care centre for assistance.
