    SENTECH SOC Limited Seeks Chief Operations Officer

    SENTECH SOC Limited, a state-owned company operating in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and signal broadcasting sector, is looking to appoint a Chief Operations Officer (COO) on a 5-year fixed-term contract. The COO will play a crucial role in developing and executing the core business strategy, focusing on business growth and operational efficiencies across SENTECH’s various business units, products, and services.

    Job Purpose

    The COO will oversee the overall business performance for the Media, Managed Infrastructure, Satellite business units, and Information Technology, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and mission.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent.
    • Honours degree and an MBA/MBL.
    • A minimum of 12 years’ experience in the ICT industry, with at least 8 years in an Executive Management role.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

    • Strategic leadership and critical thinking.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of integrity.
    • Customer and commercial insight with a solid track record in risk mitigation.
    • Proven ability to lead an executive team and drive business growth.
    • Commercial acumen to ensure financial sustainability.
    • Knowledge of the broadcasting and telecommunications sector, both locally and internationally.
    • Familiarity with the King Report on Corporate Governance and the Companies Act, 71 of 2008.
    • Understanding of the Regulatory Framework for public service, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
    • Emotional intelligence and results orientation.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Develop and implement the business unit’s strategic plan, driving revenue growth and market expansion.
    • Lead the delivery of the overall commercial and technology strategy, including strategic projects and business continuity.
    • Foster innovation and business growth within commercial units.
    • Cultivate a culture of professionalism and efficiency.
    • Elevate brand awareness and expand market share.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all commercial activities.
    • Provide strategic oversight of SENTECH’s financial affairs and ensure financial viability.
    • Identify and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders, including regulators and customers.
