Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is excited to announce the appointment of Springbok rugby star and Toyota Cheetahs scrumhalf, Faf de Klerk as an official Toyota brand ambassador. Known for his fearless determination, dynamic leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence, De Klerk embodies the values that have made him one of South Africa’s most admired sporting figures.

The partnership further strengthens Toyota’s long-standing relationship with rugby in South Africa. It also underscores the company’s enduring support of the Toyota Cheetahs, a partnership that has helped nurture talent, inspire communities and grow the game for many years.

Commenting on the announcement, Glenn Crompton, Vice President Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors, said: “Faf is more than a world-class rugby player – he is a symbol of determination, authenticity and South African pride. His journey to becoming a Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok reflects the values we hold dear at Toyota: resilience, continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence. We are delighted to welcome him to the Toyota Cheetahs family and look forward to an exciting journey together.”

As part of this exciting partnership, De Klerk will be paired with the Land Cruiser Prado – a vehicle renowned for its capability, resilience and ability to perform with confidence in even the toughest conditions. Following De Klerk’s recent signing with the Toyota Cheetahs, his appointment represents more than a sponsorship agreement, it is a celebration of a shared legacy. As one of South Africa’s most recognisable rugby players, De Klerk brings a wealth of experience, leadership and global success to the Toyota Cheetahs. His arrival has generated excitement among supporters and marks an exciting new chapter for both the player and the franchise.

Speaking on the partnership, Faf de Klerk said: “Joining the Toyota Cheetahs has been an exciting new chapter in my rugby journey and I’m equally proud to now be joining the Toyota family as a brand ambassador. Toyota is a brand synonymous with quality, reliability and performance – values that resonate strongly with me both on and off the field. Much like me, the Land Cruiser Prado is an incredible vehicle that is built to take on any challenge. I’m ready to go on many adventures with it but most importantly, looking forward to representing a brand that shares my passion for excellence and continually pushing boundaries.”

De Klerk’s pairing with the Land Cruiser Prado is a fitting one. Built to take on any terrain with confidence, the Prado combines legendary off-road capability, premium comfort, advanced safety technologies and proven reliability. Whether navigating challenging landscapes or everyday journeys, the Prado is designed for those who embrace every adventure with confidence, much like De Klerk’s approach to the game.

He brings outstanding experience, leadership and a winning mentality that aligns perfectly with our ambitions. We are proud to see him join the Toyota family as a brand ambassador, further strengthening the connection between our team, our sponsor and one of the game’s most respected players.”

As Toyota continues to invest in South African rugby and the people who shape its future, the addition of De Klerk to its ambassador family reinforces the brand’s dedication to backing champions, strengthening communities and inspiring the next generation to go beyond their limits.

De Klerk joins a string of sporting personalities such as Oupa Mohoje, Gerda Steyn and Matt Beers who are also Toyota ambassadors.
