Engen and Valterra Platinum have partnered on a Back-to-School Winter Campaign that reached five schools in Limpopo, distributing school uniforms and shoes to learners in Mashashane, Ga-Chuene, Ga-Maja and Solomondale in Polokwane.

The beneficiary schools were Jawe Jawe Secondary School, Tshehlo Secondary School, Mahloged Secondary School, Baphutheng Secondary School and Mafolofolo Secondary School. At each school, the partners distributed 40 school uniforms and 40 pairs of school shoes, helping to ease the financial burden on families while promoting dignity and improved learning conditions.

The campaign ran between 11 and 13 May 2026 and marks the first collaboration between Engen and Valterra Platinum on a corporate social investment initiative. Both organisations have operations in the area, and the partnership reflects a shared commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where they work.

Simlindele Manqina, Engen’s Manager of Transformation and Stakeholder Engagement, says the initiative demonstrated the value of meaningful partnerships, noting that the shared dedication to upliftment in areas of their respective operations was a demonstration of the principle that working together is success.

Olwethu Mdabula, Engen’s CSI Manager, says education remains one of the company’s key social investment priorities. As winter approaches, ensuring learners have the essentials they need equips them to succeed. Through partnerships such as this one with Valterra Platinum, Engen is able to extend its reach and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

The Limpopo initiative forms part of Engen’s broader national Back-to-School campaign, which has already seen the company donate 900 pairs of school shoes to learners in disadvantaged communities across South Africa. Engen says it will continue to invest in initiatives that promote dignity, improve access to education and create sustainable impact in communities nationwide.
