The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) has invited applications for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a pivotal executive role at its head office in Midrand, Gauteng. The appointment forms part of CETA’s continued mission to promote transformation, skills development, and financial integrity within South Africa’s construction and built environment sector.

As a Schedule 3A Public Entity established under the Skills Development Act of 1998, CETA operates under a licence period set to run until 31 March 2030. It plays a central role in advancing employment equity and broad-based black economic empowerment by facilitating training and promoting professional development across the construction industry.

The CFO, graded at Executive Level E3 in the Patterson system, will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The position requires a leader capable of shaping and executing the organisation’s financial strategy in line with its broader goals. This includes oversight of accounting, financial reporting, procurement, and facilities management, all within the framework of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and other key financial regulations.

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure robust financial governance, maintain effective internal controls, and strengthen the organisation’s risk management practices. A crucial part of the role involves achieving clean audit outcomes and embedding a culture of transparency, performance, and service excellence throughout the Finance Division. Through sound leadership and credible financial stewardship, the CFO will contribute to enhancing CETA’s reputation as a trusted and high-performing public entity.

Applicants must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, with a postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8, such as a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA). Registration as a Chartered Accountant (CA), with SAICA or an equivalent professional body, will be regarded as a significant advantage. A master’s degree such as an MBA, MCom, or equivalent NQF Level 9 qualification will also be beneficial.

Candidates are expected to have at least eight years of financial management experience in a complex, regulated environment, including a minimum of five years in a senior leadership role. Proven success in leading finance teams to achieve unqualified audit outcomes is essential, along with expertise in governance, risk, compliance, and financial reporting. A thorough understanding of the Skills Development Act, Skills Development Levies Act, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act is also required.

Applications must be submitted through the official CETA recruitment portal at www.ceta.org.za. Emailed applications will not be accepted. Candidates are encouraged to include a detailed curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic qualifications, and contact details of three referees.

Enquiries about the job content may be directed to Briant@ceta.co.za or Bukiwex@ceta.co.za no later than five days before the closing date. The closing date for applications is 24 October 2025 at 23:59.

CETA remains committed to equal opportunity and affirmative action employment, with preference given to suitably qualified candidates whose appointment will enhance representativity in the organisation.

Issued by the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA).
