    The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is searching for talented individuals who are committed to shaping the future of South Africa.

    CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) – (5 Year fixed-term contract)


    Commencement Date: 01 February 2026 | Total Annual Remuneration Package: R2 352 642Job Purpose:
    To assist the Commission in the performance of its financial, administrative, and clerical functions. In this regard, to provide strategic leadership, direction and guidance to the Secretariat of the SAHRC to ensure effective management of the affairs and operations of the Commission. To perform duties as assigned by the South African Human Rights Commission Act (Act 40 of 2013). To perform duties of an Accounting Officer as prescribed in the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) (Act 1 of 1999 as amended).

    Requirements:

    • A postgraduate degree, preferably in business management, or in Finance, or a bachelor’s degree in law or international relations, or international law.
    • At least 8 years’ experience in a senior management role, including 2 years’ experience operating at an executive level capacity.
    • Experience in the development of an organizational strategy.
    • Experience in the preparation and management of strategic plans, operational plans, and budgets.
    • Previous experience in the management of a government institution or an NGO would be an added advantage.
