Vehicle leasing and fleet management company Afrirent Holdings (Pty) Ltd has strongly rejected what it describes as misleading and damaging narratives circulating on social media about its alleged involvement in the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
When Business Explainer reached out for comment, Afrirent released a statement to set the record straight.

Afrirent Holdings (Pty) Ltd. notes with concern the circulation of misleading claims on social media regarding its business operations and alleged associations.
Afrirent wishes to state categorically that it has not been invited by the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry either as a witness or a suspect. Any association with the Commission is disingenuous, malicious and seeks to cast aspersions on the company’s character and stellar track record over the past 24 years.
Over more than two decades, the company has operated in compliance with applicable laws, governance standards, and procurement frameworks.
The company will not hesitate to take appropriate action against the spread of false, damaging, or defamatory information.”

Afrirent, founded and led by businessman Senzo Tsabenze, has been a prominent player in South Africa’s fleet management sector for over two decades, providing services to various government departments and private clients. The company has previously defended its track record, pointing to past forensic audits and internal reviews that it says cleared it of any wrongdoing in earlier tender controversies.
The current wave of social media attention appears to stem from broader public interest in the Madlanga Commission, which is examining issues of procurement and alleged irregularities in government contracting. While some online posts have linked Afrirent to a reported R1.26 billion fleet contract, the company maintains that it has received no formal summons or direct scrutiny from the Madlanga Commission.
The Commission continues its work, with hearings ongoing into various public procurement matters.
No official confirmation has emerged from the Commission directly implicating Afrirent at this stage.
