Google’s bard adds first African language

    July 14, 2023By Staff Writer
    Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

Google’s chatbot, Bard, has added Swahili as its first African language. This expansion demonstrates Google’s commitment to inclusivity and reaching a wider user base across different regions of the world, particularly in Africa.

    1. Bard is now available in 59 new countries and territories, making it accessible to a broader audience. This expansion reflects Google’s efforts to make its conversational AI tool available to users worldwide, promoting global connectivity and knowledge sharing.
    2. Bard now offers new features that allow users to customize their experience and enhance their creativity. Users can adjust Bard’s responses by changing the tone and style, listen to responses in multiple languages, pin and rename conversations, and share responses with others. These features provide users with more control and flexibility in their interactions with Bard.
    3. Google views Bard as a tool to democratize knowledge and stimulate creativity. By providing detailed answers and assisting users in building upon their ideas, Bard aims to help users explore their curiosity, spark imagination, and facilitate the realization of their concepts and projects.
    4. Swahili is one of the most widely spoken languages globally, with over 200 million speakers. The inclusion of Swahili in Bard’s language repertoire allows Google to reach a significant portion of the African population, enabling more people in the region to benefit from the AI-powered chatbot and its potential for learning and creativity.
