The Navara PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar is celebrating its first anniversary in South Africa this week, marking a successful first year in South Africa as a specialist off-road version of the popular Navara.

Demand for this high-performance bakkie has recently seen local conversion operations reach single-shift capacity, reflecting the strong appetite among South African motorists for a vehicle that combines factory-backed reliability with extreme off-road engineering.

Since its launch, the Nissan Navara Warrior by Premcar has proven its capabilities on local soil.

In March 2025, shortly after its introduction, a team of five Navara Warriors embarked on a gruelling 1 000km expedition through the Northern Cape’s most unforgiving terrain. Tracing a route from Augrabies Falls along the Gariep River to the Atlantic Ocean, the mission sought to establish a world record for the longest off-road trail.

This “Daring Africa 2.0” trek followed the original 8 000km odyssey from Rosslyn to Cairo from 2024 and proved that the Navara is the ultimate passport for both business operators and weekend adventurers.

The Nissan Navara Warrior is developed and built in partnership with Australian automotive specialists, Premcar. The off-road specialist manufacturer has a long history of building highly durable and capable conversions of both the Nissan Navara and the Nissan Patrol.

The Warrior is a Nissan-approved conversion of the PRO-4X, re-engineered to be the toughest Navara ever produced. Key performance enhancements include a raised ground clearance of 232mm thanks to uprated off-road shock absorbers and coils, an increased track width (up by 30mm) for further improved off-road manners and stability under load and off-road MAXXIS RAZR tyres with a 275/65 R17 profile, the perfect form factor that combines technical off-road capability with good on-road manners.

Under the skin, the Nissan Navara Warrior by Premcar is powered by Nissan’s proven and popular 2.5-litre DDTi diesel engine delivering 140kW and 450Nm of torque. The engine powers all four wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission. As can be expected with an off-road-ready Nissan, the Warrior has a full low-range transmission.

Beyond its technical upgrades, the Warrior also stands out from the crowd thanks to a blacked-out grille, a widened front bumper with more aggressive profile, a sports bar mounted on the rubberised load bin and red Warrior-only accents on some of the specialised components.

Inside, the cabin is a true example of flagship-level luxury, including an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite, which includes an all-round view monitor with a specialised off-road mode that offers a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle for easier manoeuvring over rough terrain. Other Advanced Driver Assistance features include lane departure warning, forward collision warning and blind spot monitoring.

For total peace of mind, Premcar matches Nissan’s 6-year/150 000km warranty on all modified components. A service plan of 6 years or 90 000km is also included in the sales price.

The Warrior sits at the pinnacle of a diversified Navara line-up. This stable now includes the Stealth, which features a darkened exterior styling package and offers a mid-range luxury option between the Navara LE and PRO-4X versions.

The Nissan Navara Warrior by Premcar is hosted on a special website – www.navarawarrior.co.za.
