The T-Cross is the smallest member of Volkswagen’s all-important “T” family of SUVs and the best-selling SUV for the brand in South Africa. Sharing its MQB A0 platform with the sixth-generation Polo hatchback, T-Cross has also been the best selling imported model for Volkswagen in South Africa with over 36 000 units sold.

The new T-Cross is set to redefine the compact SUV market in South Africa with its fresh design and new technology.

From the outside, the updated T-Cross is immediately recognisable by the new design of its front and rear with new integrated LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillight clusters. The IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are a completely new Volkswagen development and are offered for the first time on the T-Cross. Three new, fresh colours have been added to the model range: the solid colour Grape Yellow (a crisp, sporty yellow), Clear Blue Metallic (an elegant and friendly light blue) and Kings Red Metallic (a vivid, striking red).

The central element in the interior of the new T-Cross is the free-standing infotainment display. The standard touchscreen measures 8-inches diagonally. In addition, all derivatives are now offered with digital cockpit as standard. The dash panel in the T-Cross has also undergone a complete redesign: as in larger Volkswagen models, the dash panel features soft-touch upholstered and significantly higher-quality surface materials. The same applies to the front door trims.

The new T-Cross boasts cutting-edge lighting technology, including 24 LEDs per headlight module, full-LED taillights with animation, and an illuminated strip on the radiator grille, all complemented by the “Dynamic Light Assist” system, which allows permanent main beam. This is all part of the IQ.Light package which is standard on the T-Cross Style and R-Line. Safety and convenience are prioritised with an array of driver assistance systems such as Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Cornering Assist, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist, all part of the semi-automated Travel Assist package. The vehicle also includes Adaptive Cruise Control with stop & go functionality, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Front Assist, and Pedestrian Monitoring, ensuring a safe and effortless driving experience in various conditions.

The significantly upgraded base derivative of the T-Cross will now include features such as the new LED headlights (instead of halogen), new LED taillight clusters, the Digital Cockpit, and a new, free-standing infotainment display. The top derivative remains as the R-Line with sporty accents specification package.

The T-Cross Life derivative enhances your driving experience with a range of premium standard features. It includes LED headlights and taillights for excellent visibility, and an 8-inch Composition Colour Radio paired with an 8-inch Digital Cockpit with App Connect for a modern infotainment setup. The T-Cross Life comes standard with 16-inch Nottingham alloy wheels and features electric folding mirrors with projection lighting for added convenience. Additional features include front and rear Park Distance Control (PDC), cruise control for effortless driving, black roof rails for added versatility, and inductive charging for convenient, wireless power on the go.

In addition to the Life standard features, the Style derivative comes equipped with IQ Matrix LED headlights and Dynamic Light Assist for optimal illumination and driving safety. The exterior is enhanced by 17-inch Manila alloy wheels, an illuminated strip between the headlights and chrome roof rails that add a touch of sophistication. Inside, the T-Cross Style offers sports seats for added comfort, a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro for an advanced digital display experience, and a 2-zone Climatronic air conditioning system for personalised climate control. Additional features include a multifunction sensor for enhanced vehicle control (alerts driver of potential obstacles).

The T-Cross R-Line model combines sporty elegance with cutting-edge technology. It features IQ Matrix LED headlights and distinctive R-Line interior and exterior styling, complemented by 17-inch Valencia alloy wheels and ArtVelour R-Line seats for a premium feel. An illuminated strip between the headlights and a rear light strip with wiping signal lights enhance the vehicle’s striking design. The interior features stainless steel pedals for a touch of sportiness and driving profile selection to tailor your driving experience.

This model accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds, has a top speed of up to 193 km/h, and achieves a fuel economy of 5.6 liters per 100 km. It is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission.
