Mercedes-Benz South Africa has expanded its electric vehicle family by introducing the EQE and EQS SUV models, adding to their existing lineup of premium electric cars.
- The EQE SUV is available in a single model variant, the EQE 350 4Matic, starting at a price of R2,194,500. The larger EQS SUV offers options of five or seven seats and is available as the EQS 450 4Matic, with prices ranging from R2,726,100 to R2,759,300.
- Both the EQE and EQS SUVs are built on Mercedes-Benz’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, which is also used for their sedan counterparts. They feature 10-module lithium-ion batteries of different sizes.
- The EQE 350 offers a driving range of approximately 461km to 551km on the WLTP cycle, depending on driving conditions. The EQS 450, equipped with a 108 kWh battery, boasts an estimated WLTP range of up to 616km.
- The EQE 350 delivers 215kW of power and 765Nm of torque, while the EQS 450 offers 265kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
- The EQE SUV introduces a new electric vehicle sound experience called “serene Breeze,” which aims to provide occupants with a relaxed and natural sound environment, emphasizing the transition from combustion engines to electric vehicles.
- Both models offer advanced driver assistance features and utilize the latest MBUX infotainment system, with the EQS optionally offering the MBUX Hyperscreen, a large digital display that spans most of the dashboard.
