Rwandan President Paul Kagame is planning to run for a fourth term in the upcoming elections expected to be held in 2024.

    1. The news was reported by Jeune Afrique following an interview.
    2. Paul Kagame has been a dominant figure in Rwandan politics since his rebel army liberated the country after the 1994 genocide, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 800,000 people.
    3. Kagame first assumed office in 2000 and has won three previous elections, always securing a significant majority of the vote, never receiving less than 93% of the votes cast.
