Bell Equipment CEO bows out amid criticism and calls for transparency

    July 11, 2023By Staff Writer
    Leon Goosen

Bell Equipment CEO, Leon Goosen, has resigned after five years in the role to pursue other interests

    1. Goosen joined the company’s board 14 years ago and held the positions of Chief Operations Officer before becoming CEO in 2018.
    2. The announcement of Goosen’s resignation has drawn criticism from industry experts, citing a lack of transparency and unanswered questions regarding the company’s future direction.
    3. Bell Equipment, like many businesses, faced challenges during the pandemic, resulting in a decline in its share price before recovering.
    4. Goosen will remain in his position until December, and the company will initiate a process to appoint a new CEO.
    5. Recently, Bell reached an agreement with the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) to convert 100 contract workers into permanent employees, avoiding a potential strike.
