    Sithole Mbanga takes up a new CEO role

    Sithole Mbanga has been appointed as the new CEO of the South African Local Government Association (Salga), effective July 1.

    1. Mbanga brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in operations, strategic planning, and public sector governance to his new role.
    2. Prior to joining Salga, Mbanga served as the CEO of the South African Cities Network, promoting information exchange and best practices in urban development.
    3. Mbanga has held managerial positions in both the public and private sectors, including the Local Government Support and Learning Network and the National Business Initiative.
    4. Salga President Bheke Stofile expresses confidence in Mbanga’s leadership, highlighting his transformative and collaborative style aligned with Salga’s commitment to efficient service.
    5. Salga aims to leverage its accomplishments, such as consecutive clean audits and increased influence in decision-making forums, to support member municipalities in delivering on their developmental mandates.
