Bonitas Medical Fund has once again been recognised among South Africa’s leading medical schemes, retaining two prestigious Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) Titanium Awards at this year’s awards ceremony.

The Scheme received the Titanium Award for Best Integrated Report, marking its third consecutive win in the category, as well as the Titanium Award for Service to Membership: Operational Performance, extending its winning streak in the category to five consecutive years.

The annual BHF Titanium Awards recognise excellence across the healthcare funding industry, honouring medical schemes, administrators and managed care organisations that demonstrate outstanding performance, governance and value for members.

“Bonitas is honoured by this continued recognition, which is a reflection of the consistency and professionalism of our people who work every day to ensure we deliver meaningful value to our members,” says Lee Callakoppen, Principal Officer of Bonitas Medical Fund. “Retaining both awards, particularly over multiple consecutive years, is something we are immensely proud of because it speaks to the standards we continue to uphold across every aspect of our business.”

    Judging criteria

The Best Integrated Report award recognises organisations that produce clear, comprehensive and stakeholder-focused integrated reports that effectively communicate strategy, governance and long-term value creation. Additionally, the Service to Membership: Operational Performance award recognises medical schemes that consistently demonstrate excellence across key operational and governance measures, including sustainable growth, financial strength, health governance, preventative healthcare and delivering long-term value to members.

“These awards recognise the consistency behind how we operate as a Scheme,” adds Callakoppen. “They reinforce our commitment to remaining financially sustainable while continuing to provide quality, affordable healthcare cover for our members.”

As one of South Africa’s largest open medical schemes, Bonitas remains focused on delivering accessible, affordable healthcare backed by responsible governance, sound financial management and a member-first approach.

“Our members place their trust in us every day. Recognition from an independent industry body is encouraging, but our greatest measure of success remains our ability to continue meeting their needs today while building a sustainable Scheme for the future,” concludes Callakoppen.
