Minister in The Presidency for Electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, will co-host a Transmission Financing Seminar with the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).

    1. The seminar aims to facilitate discussions on financing South Africa’s Transmission Development Plan, which focuses on expanding and securing the country’s energy mix and electricity supply.
    2. The development and expansion of South Africa’s electricity transmission infrastructure play a crucial role in enabling diverse energy solutions from different parts of the country to contribute to the national grid.
    3. The seminar will bring together government officials, industry experts, and potential private sector investors to discuss long-term energy security and explore alternative funding mechanisms for maintaining, modernizing, and expanding the national grid.
    4. The event will also include an exchange of international experiences, where countries that have faced similar challenges will share the models they pursued to overcome them.
    5. The discussions at the seminar will contribute to meeting global decarbonization targets and ensuring South Africa’s energy sovereignty and sustainability.
    6. The collaboration between the Electricity Minister and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange highlights the commitment to enhancing South Africa’s electricity transmission infrastructure and addressing the country’s energy needs.
