As South Africa’s e-hailing industry evolves, safety remains a top priority. inDrive has reinforced its driver-focused approach through a new strategic partnership with Cartrack.

The collaboration introduces advanced analytics, emergency response, and safety-focused AI dashcam technology, offering drivers additional protection, safety and confidence on the road.

As South Africa’s new e-hailing regulations place increased emphasis on safety, compliance, and responsible operations, there is growing national demand for practical tools that help protect the public, drivers and passengers. While the regulations do not mandate specific insurance types, commercial and e-hailing insurance remain strongly advised due to rising risks and on-road exposure.

Against this backdrop, the inDrive and Cartrack partnership offers drivers an immediate, practical solution to enhance personal safety, safeguard their vehicles, and improve confidence on every trip.

    How the Partnership Works

The service, called E-Hailing Plus, is provided independently by Cartrack and does not affect an inDrive driver’s trips, earnings, flexibility, or ratings. Instead, verified Platinum-tier inDrive drivers gain access to professional safety tools at preferred pricing through an exclusive sign-up link.

Drivers gain access to essential safety tools including an optional AI-powered dashcam that provides incident video evidence, speeds up insurance claims, and offers alerts for distraction or fatigue. Additionally, drivers gain access to 24/7 emergency response, a discreet in-vehicle panic button, full access to the Cartrack app for monitoring and support, hijacking and stolen-vehicle recovery and live GPS tracking for real-time visibility, all while ensuring complete privacy, as no data is shared with inDrive unless the driver chooses to allow it.

    Why This Partnership Matters

“Drivers are the backbone of our platform, and their safety defines the safety of our entire ecosystem,” said Ashif Black, inDrive’s country representative in South Africa. “As industry standards evolve, we must go beyond compliance and provide drivers with tools that genuinely protect them on the road. Cartrack’s technology brings drivers real, practical support in moments where every second matters.”

Cartrack reinforced its commitment to supporting South Africa’s e-hailing community: “South Africa’s drivers face real, daily risks, and our mission is to ensure they never face those situations alone,” said Joshua Victor, CEO at Cartrack South Africa. “Partnering with inDrive allows us to extend world-class safety technology, rapid emergency response, and vehicle protection to the drivers who keep our cities moving. Together, we’re helping build a safer, more resilient e-hailing ecosystem.”

The partnership is now available to all verified Platinum-tier inDrive drivers in South Africa. Drivers can enrol, view pricing, or explore optional upgrades through the official campaign link communicated via the inDrive app and communication channels.
