    Google selects 5 African Health-Tech startups for global impact

    AI for Health has announced the selection of 30 startups from around the world for its 2023 cohort, with five African health-tech startups making the cut.

    1. Among the selected startups are Eden Care from Rwanda, iZola Limited and Zuri Health from Kenya, and mDoc and Pharmarun from Nigeria. These startups are leveraging AI-powered solutions to revolutionize healthcare in Africa.
    2. The chosen startups are at the forefront of developing innovative solutions that tackle various healthcare challenges, ranging from early disease detection to improving information accessibility.
    3. Google recognizes the remarkable innovative spirit in the AI for Health domain within Africa. The selection of these startups demonstrates the continent’s ability to develop globally impactful health solutions.
    4. Google aims to provide support and partnership to the selected startups as they scale and disseminate their groundbreaking solutions. This assistance aligns with Google’s broader vision to support startups and foster their growth.
    5. In addition to the AI for Health Program, Google has introduced the Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First, a 10-week accelerator program focused on supporting African startups that utilize artificial intelligence to address local challenges.
    6. Since 2018, Google has supported 106 startups from 17 African countries through its Google for Startups Accelerator programs. These startups have collectively raised over $263 million in funding and created over 2,800 jobs, highlighting the positive impact of Google’s initiatives in the African startup ecosystem.
