The 2030 World Cup will break new ground by being hosted across multiple continents, with Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay selected as the host nations.

    1. This decision marks the first time in the tournament’s history that it will be played on three continents, showcasing the global appeal and unity of football.
    2. The bidding process for the 2030 World Cup involved intense competition and political negotiations, with the collaborative bid by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal emerging victorious.
    3. Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, as the birthplace of the first World Cup in 1930, will have the honor of hosting the opening three matches to commemorate the tournament’s centenary.
    4. The joint bid between UEFA (representing Spain and Portugal) and the African federation, CAF (representing Morocco), signifies a gesture of solidarity and cooperation between the two continents.
    5. FIFA, the governing body of international football, is committed to rotating the World Cup between confederations. The decision to award the 2030 tournament to South America reflects the desire to honor the region’s historical role in the competition.
    6. The announcement also sets the stage for the 2034 World Cup, which will be hosted by a country (or countries) represented by the Asian or Oceania confederations, with Saudi Arabia and Australia among the potential bidders.
