    BankservAfrica has a new CEO

    BankservAfrica, an interbank payments provider in South Africa, has appointed Stephen Linnell as its new CEO. He is replacing Jan Pilbauer, who left the organization in April.

    1. Linnell will assume his new role as CEO on October 1st.
    2. BankservAfrica is a crucial player in the smooth functioning of South Africa’s economy and recently led the launch of PayShap, a digital rapid payments platform in the country.
    3. Stephen Linnell brings extensive experience to the position, having served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer for Global Markets at Rand Merchant Bank (RMB). He has also held leadership positions in wholesale securities and payments businesses for RMB and Absa, as well as other financial markets infrastructure providers.
    4. Teddy Daka, the board chairman of BankservAfrica, expressed confidence in Linnell’s expertise and ability to lead the organization towards its envisioned platform future state.
    5. Jan Pilbauer, the outgoing CEO, played a pivotal role in transitioning BankservAfrica to be recognized as an influential force in the industry through the delivery of PayShap and steering the organization’s vision towards modernization.
