Chery’s premium brand, Omoda, revealed the Omoda C9 at the Festival of Motoring in Johannesburg. The flagship crossover features coupe-inspired styling and a luxurious interior.

    1. The Omoda C9 is expected to be available in local showrooms by December this year, although most of the specification details and pricing are yet to be disclosed.
    2. The Omoda C9 is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbopetrol engine that generates 197kW of power and 400Nm of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox specifically tailored for the local market. In contrast, other regions like Europe receive a dual-clutch gearbox.
    3. Buyers in the local market will have the choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants of the Omoda C9.
    4. Omoda describes the C9 as “Uber Luxurious.” The interior features a fold-out leg rest for the front passenger, reminiscent of high-end luxury vehicles like the 7 Series or S-Class. The cabin also offers ample screen space and striking mood lighting, reflecting the modern Chinese design approach.
    5. Both front and rear occupants of the Omoda C9 enjoy powered, heated, and ventilated seats. Front occupants are treated to a massage function, enhancing the comfort and luxury of the vehicle.
