TruckStore, a division of Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA), today announced the opening of its new West Rand facility, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the Southern African used-truck market. The new facility strengthens TruckStore’s national footprint and complements its existing head office Centurion operation, with both sites remaining fully operational to enhance accessibility, flexibility, and customer service.

Originally launched globally in 2001, TruckStore has evolved into Daimler Truck’s trusted used-vehicle division, offering quality, reliability, and peace of mind to customers across the world. South Africa became the first market outside of Europe to establish a TruckStore operation in 2012, laying the foundation for a strong national network. The West Rand facility now positions TruckStore at the heart of Gauteng’s growing used-truck hub, close to key transport corridors, mining regions, and industrial centres, bringing the business closer to its customers and the market it serves.

A Clear Investment in the Future

Maretha Gerber, President and Group CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa, emphasises the strategic importance of the investment: “The opening of our West Rand facility is a clear demonstration of our commitment to Southern Africa. We are invested, we are present, and we are here to stay. At Daimler Truck Southern Africa, our purpose is to keep Africa moving by creating real value for our customers, and TruckStore plays a critical role in supporting customers through their re-fleeting cycles. For customers in the used-truck space, TruckStore ensures that vehicles continue to deliver value well beyond their first lifecycle.” She adds: “This facility strengthens our ability to serve our customers in the areas where they typically shop for used trucks, while reinforcing our long-term confidence in the resilience and potential of the regional trucking market.”

Positioned for Market Relevance and Growth

Wolf Edmayr, General Manager of TruckStore, highlights the strategic timing of the expansion: “The investment comes at a time when the used-truck market is stabilising following a period of significant fluctuation between 2023 and 2025. As demand and supply rebalance, used trucks continue to offer a cost-effective and dependable solution for transport operators. The West Rand has established itself as the hub of the used-truck market in Gauteng. This is where our customers look for used trucks when they are in the market. It was essential for us to be present here.” He adds: “With this new facility, alongside our Centurion operation, we are better positioned than ever to provide certainty, accessibility, and trusted solutions in a dynamic market. This investment ensures that TruckStore remains relevant, competitive, and ready for future growth.”

Driving Value Beyond the First Owner

TruckStore continues to play a vital role in supporting businesses across Southern Africa by providing high-quality used trucks that enable logistics operators, entrepreneurs, and industries to keep moving. The opening of the West Rand facility represents more than a physical expansion, it reflects DTSA’s commitment to supporting economic activity and mobility across the region.

Gerber concludes: “Ultimately, our business is about more than trucks – it is about enabling the people and industries that keep Africa moving.”
