Range Rover has unveiled the Range Rover Sport TWENTY Edition, a limited-run model celebrating two decades of the performance-focused SUV line with bespoke detailing, flagship powertrains and performance seats drawn from the Range Rover Sport SV. The TWENTY Edition marks 20 years since the first full year of production of a model that emerged from a pivotal moment in automotive history, born from the realisation that the market was ready for more dynamic, performance-oriented SUVs. Its arrival also signalled a defining shift for Range Rover, marking the brand’s evolution into a family of vehicles.

Over three generations, Range Rover Sport has evolved from its muscular, performance-focused origins into a modern expression of reductive luxury. The first-generation model introduced a bold, purposeful stance inspired by the Range Stormer concept, while the second generation refined the silhouette with sleeker lines, a lighter aluminium architecture and a more dynamic profile. Range Rover Sport surpassed one million global sales during that period. The current generation represents the purest interpretation yet, defined by clean surfaces, taut proportions and a confident, contemporary aesthetic that balances athleticism with Range Rover sophistication.

Over its 20-year journey, Range Rover Sport has consistently proved its capability in demanding tests. In 2013, the second-generation model set a new production SUV record at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in the United States. Five years later, it became the first vehicle to drive up the 999 steps of Heaven’s Gate in China, overcoming low-grip conditions and 45-degree inclines. In other feats, Range Rover Sport set the fastest time on an 800-kilometre drive across the Empty Quarter in Saudi Arabia and, for the reveal of the third-generation car, drove 193 metres up the Kárahnjúkar Dam in Iceland.

Technological innovations have included the Dynamic Response electrohydraulic anti-roll control system and Brembo braking system on first-generation V8 models, followed by the introduction of the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Among the highlights of the second generation was the launch of the 505kW Range Rover Sport SVR in 2014, the first car from the Special Vehicle Operations division, and the 2014 Range Rover Sport Hybrid. In 2023, the 467kW Range Rover Sport SV debuted as the performance flagship, featuring 6D Dynamics suspension, eight-piston Brembo Octyma calipers, carbon fibre wheels, carbon ceramic brake discs and Body and Soul Seats.

The TWENTY Edition introduces elevated exterior details, refined interior features and a choice of high-performance powertrains. Drawing inspiration from the original Stormer orange Range Stormer concept and the Vesuvius Orange First Edition Range Rover Sport, the TWENTY Edition is available in a bold, ultra-metallic Sanguinello Orange finish, continuing a colour signature woven into every iteration of the model. A further paint palette including Santorini Black and Ostuni White offers modern, athletic exterior finishes. A Black Exterior Pack creates a stealthy silhouette, complemented by TWENTY etching and 23-inch Gloss Sparkle Silver wheels or optional Gloss Black wheels.

Inside, illuminated TWENTY treadplates and TWENTY centre console scripting mark the exclusive edition. The interior features Ebony Windsor seats drawn from the Range Rover Sport SV, which are lightweight, sculpted and inspired by motorsport, combining precision-engineered ergonomics with luxury craftsmanship. Forged carbon veneers and a black suedecloth headlining create a dynamically dark ambience in the cabin.

The TWENTY Edition’s powertrain options underscore the performance-driven ethos of the model. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mild hybrid petrol engine produces 397kW. The P550e plug-in electric hybrid combines a 3.0-litre six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with a 105kW electric motor and 38.2kWh battery to produce 405kW, with a pure-electric WLTP driving range of up to 115 kilometres and CO2 emissions from 18 grams per kilometre.

Martin Limpert, Global Managing Director of Range Rover, said the model had continually pushed boundaries since the Stormer concept was first revealed. “Over two decades it has proven itself as a highly capable luxury SUV with sports-car DNA and the TWENTY Edition is the perfect celebration of its enduring legacy,” Limpert said. “This limited edition adds to that momentum, capturing an exciting moment in a journey that’s far from finished for Range Rover Sport.” The Range Rover Sport TWENTY Edition has not been confirmed for South Africa.
