Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that South Africa will receive a highly restricted allocation of the CLA 45 S Final Edition, with just 15 units reserved for the local market. The limited-run four-door coupé is priced at R1,721,234, including VAT, positioning it firmly at the upper end of the compact performance segment and reinforcing its status as a collector-oriented offering, according to Mercedes-Benz South Africa.
The Final Edition does not alter the mechanical formula that has defined the CLA 45 S but instead focuses on exclusivity through design and specification. Mercedes-AMG has framed the model as a send-off that blends established performance credentials with carefully selected aesthetic enhancements, a strategy increasingly used by premium manufacturers to extend product lifecycles while protecting brand cachet in smaller, high-margin segments.
Despite its limited status, the CLA 45 S Final Edition retains the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder AMG engine found across several high-performance AMG models. Producing 310kW and 500Nm, the unit remains one of the most powerful four-cylinder engines in series production. Power is channelled through an eight-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and distributed to all four wheels via the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system. This configuration enables torque vectoring across the rear axle, allowing drivers to prioritise stability or engage a dedicated drift mode. As a result, the car maintains a 0–100km/h time of 4.1 seconds, with top speed electronically capped at 270km/h.

In market terms, the CLA 45 S Final Edition arrives at a time when demand for high-performance compact vehicles remains resilient among affluent buyers, despite broader pressure on discretionary spending. Limited editions have become an effective tool for manufacturers to sustain interest in internal combustion performance models as electrification accelerates, as reported by Autocar.
Visually, the Final Edition distinguishes itself through an exclusive Night Black exterior finish, prominent 45 S door graphics and yellow AMG detailing on the mirror caps. It rides on 19-inch matte black AMG forged wheels with yellow-branded hub covers, while gloss black brake callipers and a silver chrome AMG fuel cap add further contrast. The AMG Night Package is standard, applying high-gloss black finishes and dark chrome exhaust trims, with an optional Night Package II extending the darkened theme to grille elements and exterior badges.
Inside, the cabin reinforces the car’s limited-edition positioning through AMG Performance seats trimmed in a mix of man-made leather and black microfibre. Yellow contrast stitching appears across the seats, door panels and dashboard, complemented by embroidered 45 S branding on the headrests and a dedicated Final Edition emblem on the centre console. Illuminated door sills with yellow AMG detailing, a Nappa leather and microfibre AMG Performance steering wheel, and bespoke floor mats complete the interior upgrades.
The price includes a five-year or 100,000km service and maintenance plan, aligning the offering with expectations in the premium segment. With only a handful of units available, the CLA 45 S Final Edition is likely to appeal to buyers seeking both performance and rarity in a market where such combinations are becoming increasingly scarce.
