Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is proud to announce its partnership as the official vehicle partner of the first-ever Nedbank Gravel Burn, a bold new 7-day, 800 km gravel cycling stage race through some of South Africa’s most iconic landscapes.

The inaugural event will take place from 26 October to 1 November 2025, starting in Knysna and traversing the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, cutting through the Great Karoo and finishing at Shamwari Private Game Reserve, near Gqeberha.

Toyota at the heart of the race

As the official vehicle partner, Toyota will supply a fleet of rugged, gravel-ready vehicles offering logistical support for day-to-day mountain bike race operations across the full 800km of challenging Karoo terrain. In addition, one of the Toyota vehicles will lead the way at the start of every stage, sending the riders off in true race-day style.

At the end of each day, the Toyota leader jersey vehicle will make its way through the riders’ camp, delivering daily leader jerseys to podium finishers as they leave their mark and autographs on this iconic Toyota Fortuner.

In addition to its vehicle support, Toyota is behind a strong lineup of South African riders, which includes:

    • Toyota Specialized – Matt Beers, Travis Stedman, Johan van Zyl, and Cherise Willeit
    • Imbuko ChemChamp – Marco Joubert, Tristan Nortje, Lood Goosen, and Rudi Koen
    • Toyota Invitational Guests – Mariska Strauss, Reuben van Niekerk, Riaan Weideman, Ashley Oldfield, Anru De Wet, and Tasneem Lorgat

This crew of solo riders offers a powerful mix of experience and youth who will seek podium finishes in what promises to be a fiercely contested race.

“Toyota is thrilled to be part of this exciting new adventure that celebrates both the endurance of gravel cycling racing and the beauty of South Africa’s landscapes,” said Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors. “Our vehicles are built to handle tough terrain and go the distance – just like the cyclists taking on this incredible challenge.”

The Nedbank Gravel Burn is not only a test of endurance, but a celebration of South African spirit and open-road freedom, brought to life with Toyota South Africa Motors.

Toyota is proud to be the Official Vehicle Partner of the inaugural Nedbank Gravel Burn, a 7-day, 800 km legend in the making.
