The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), the province’s foremost development agency, has opened applications for two key executive positions – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Both posts are five-year fixed-term contracts based in East London, the thriving economic heart of Buffalo City.

The ECDC is mandated to promote economic growth, investment, and enterprise development across the province. Through financing, property management, business support, and trade facilitation, the organisation plays a central role in reducing unemployment and stimulating inclusive growth.

The CEO position calls for a strategic and visionary leader capable of steering the ECDC’s mission and strengthening its impact within the provincial economy. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will drive organisational performance, oversee corporate strategy implementation, and ensure the alignment of programmes with the province’s long-term development goals. Candidates must hold a master’s degree in a relevant field, preferably in commerce or development finance, with at least ten years of executive-level experience. Experience in development finance, lending, or private sector operations will be advantageous, along with knowledge of the public sector environment.

The CFO role requires a results-driven professional to manage the ECDC’s financial planning and ensure its long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will guide the organisation’s financial strategy, optimise costs, and enhance revenue streams, particularly in property investments, loan financing, and infrastructure management. A minimum NQF Level 9 qualification in business or finance, or registration as a Chartered Accountant (SA), is required, alongside ten years of experience in finance and at least five years in a senior leadership role. Strong commercial insight and proven turnaround expertise are essential.

Applications for both roles must be submitted to the Human Capital Department at humanresources@ecdc.co.za or by calling 043 704 5783 for enquiries. Candidates must include a detailed CV, certified copies (not older than three months) of qualifications, ID, and a valid driver’s licence.

All shortlisted applicants will undergo background, security, and qualification checks. If you have not been contacted within eight weeks of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful. In keeping with employment equity principles, candidates from designated groups, including persons with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

The closing date for applications is 2 November 2025. The ECDC reserves the right not to make an appointment.
