Together with RMB Private Bank, medical scheme, Profmed launched a dual-benefit designed to help emerging professionals protect their health and manage their finances through one intelligent solution.

This market first bundles upfront medical cover, smart credit features, and career-relevant lifestyle rewards into a single dual-benefit solution that is purpose built for young professionals who don’t want to lose pace in their upward trajectory.

Craig Comrie, Profmed Principal Officer and Chief Executive says the aim is not to dictate what professionals should be doing to grow their careers. “We’ve listened to what they need to support their ambitions and dreams,” he says. “Together with RMB Private Bank, we’ve designed a solution that is as flexible, relevant and as growth orientated as our nation’s young professionals.”

For Comrie, this is about giving professionals real-world tools that complement a hard work ethic. “Our professionals are in hospitals, courtrooms, or consulting rooms, on call, on deadline, and under pressure. They don’t need more admin; they need support they can trust.”

Upon application, qualifying young professionals are signed up to the Profmed ProSelect Savvy option. They will receive R2 500 deposited into a PPS wallet savings account for unforeseen medical expenses. ProSelect Savvy offers day to day expenses, comprehensive hospital cover, mental health support via the Profmed App, R2.5 mil to cover for annual travel of up to 150 days, and preventative screenings for conditions like prostate cancer, cardiac disease, diabetes and more.

On the financial side, the offering aims to aid with financial friction, letting professionals focus on what matters. This includes personalised interest rates on their straight credit card facility, preferential budget facility pricing at a rate of Prime +2% on all purchases. Members will also receive a complimentary metal card, with contactless functionality, purchase protection and automatic debt cover of up to R15 000. In addition, members will also receive complimentary international travel insurance of up to R5 million for all medical emergencies. This is all made available at a 50% discount on monthly account fees to the customer.

“What truly sets this offer apart is how its rewards reflect the lives of today’s professionals,” says Comrie. “It’s not about luxury for show, or ‘rewards’ for hard work and sticking to the status quo, it’s about value you’ll actually use.”

The eBucks programme which currently comprises of 5 reward tiers, will see these customers placed on reward level 3 for a duration of 3 months at account activation, with the ability to move up reward levels in the months ahead. Benefits can be enjoyed at everyday retailers like Engen, Clicks, Pick n Pay and Spar, with 15% back on Spotify and Netflix, and 25% back on devices and appliances. The card also includes eight SLOW Lounge visits, with up to 24 visits via eBucks Travel, and lifestyle perks like Starbucks and Kauai vouchers.

“At RMB Private Bank, we believe in the potential of young professionals as they embark on their careers and begin shaping their financial futures,” says Senzosenkosi Nsibande, CEO of FNB & RMB Private Bank Credit Card. “They’re launching businesses, leading medical practices, and transforming industries, often with limited resources. Our goal is to remove financial barriers and provide tailored support that enables young professionals to build strong credit profiles, unlock growth opportunities, and take confident control of their financial journey.”

To qualify, applicants must be between the ages of 22 and 30 and meet both RMB Private Bank’s young professional account and Profmed membership criteria. Typical members include professionals in law, medicine, engineering, finance, architecture, the sciences and more.

“We designed this solution around real needs, not assumptions,” says Comrie. “It offers flexibility, transparency, and relevance, because that’s what today’s professionals value. It’s a dual benefit that protects their progress and powers their potential.”
