Following its highly anticipated debut at the Volkswagen Indaba earlier this year, Volkswagen is proud to announce the official opening of pre-orders for the all-new Volkswagen Tayron in South Africa.

The Volkswagen Tayron is a modern premium 7-seater SUV positioned between the Tiguan and flagship Touareg. The Tayron sets a new benchmark in its class in comfort, digital innovation, and safety.

All-terrain design and premium interior. With a length of 4.79m, the Tayron is characterised by a clean, striking SUV design. At the front, LED headlights and the standard illuminated Volkswagen badge create an unmistakeable light signature. The same applies to the rear with its full-length horizontal LED bar and illuminated Volkswagen logo. Sharply drawn lines in the elongated silhouette emphasise the high design quality of the Tayron. The interior design also matches this standard. The interior features high-quality finishes and materials such as ArtVelours Eco (microfibre) and illuminated trims in the dash panel and doors, depending on the equipment line.

Tayron, Life and R-Line. In line with the Tayron positioning, the equipment line starts with the Tayron base, which is only available as a 5-seater. The Tayron base derivative offers standard features such as Eco LED headlights, Park Assist, Blind Spot monitor with rear traffic alert, 12.9-inch infotainment Radio, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and 18-inch Bologna alloy wheels. In addition to the standard features of the Tayron base derivative, the Tayron Life includes a wide range of convenience features such as nine airbags, three-zone automatic air conditioner, 10-colour background lighting and multifunctional driving experience control for controlling the driving profiles and the audio volume as well as for activating Atmospheres (pre-programmed lighting and audio moods). Also standard: an infotainment system (32-centimetre display diagonal) and App-Connect Wireless (for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), digital instruments, LED headlights including automatic main-beam control (Light Assist), illuminated Volkswagen badges at the front and rear, 3D LED taillight clusters.

The dynamically designed Tayron R-Line specification is customised by features such as a completely independent front bumper in R design. In addition to the Life standard features, R-Line offers LED Plus headlights with auto high beam, Varenna leather seats with R-Line logo, ergo Active seats with massage function, heated front seats, 30-colour ambient lighting dashboard and doors including R-Line exterior and interior design plus 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels.

Efficient TSI engine. The new Tayron is offered with the 1.4 TSI 110kW engine mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. The engine develops maximum torque of 250 Nm available between 1500 and 3500 rpm.

Pricing will be announced closer to launch date.
