Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is pleased to have secured an award at the 2025 SA Car of the Year (COTY) competition. The latest generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado scooped the Adventure Utility award at the annual industry event.

The Adventure Utility award category entailed vehicles that represented innovation, excellence, robust utility and refined design. According to COTY, the Prado “… charmed the jurors with its retro-themed design character, improved comfort versus its predecessor, effortless off-road ability and stout powertrain.”

Since its launch in 2024, the Prado series has moved more than 3 500 vehicles to date, maintaining an average segment market share of approximately 40%. Powered by a 150kW 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine matched to an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission, the Prado possesses the power to pull loads up to 3500kg. The interior offers a choice of five or seven-seat configurations, with a design that evokes the strength and functionality of an authentic off-roader. With new technologies installed, the Prado delivers higher levels of performance – both off-road and in everyday use.

“At Toyota, our values guide the products we manufacture and put out in the market. The Prado clinching the award for best Adventure Utility is a testament to one of our values of continuous improvement. Maintaining its unwavering rugged capabilities, our latest Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has improved driveability, technology and design. The recognition by the South African Guild of Mobility Journalists cements Prado as a solid, quality vehicle that can withstand the toughest conditions. We are happy and excited about this award. A heartfelt gratitude to all involved for the recognition,” said Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager, Marketing Communications at Toyota South Africa Motors.
