South Africa has lost its bid to host a Formula One race in 2024, as confirmed by the calendar for the FIA Formula One world championship.

    1. The decision is believed to be influenced by South Africa’s political alignment with Russia.
    2. Plans to bring back the Kyalami circuit for the race gained momentum, with support from seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
    3. The absence of an F1 race in Africa makes it the only continent without a race on the F1 schedule.
    4. The loss of the F1 race could result in significant tourism revenue loss for South Africa, as F1 races attract a large number of international spectators who contribute to the local economy.
