GoTyme Bank, formerly TymeBank, will retire the old TymeBank app on 6 September 2026, completing the phased transition to the GoTyme Bank app launched early this year.

The new GoTyme Bank app has already recorded more than 4.5 million downloads and has maintained a leading position in major app-store rankings since launching.

GoTyme Bank chose the phased transition to give customers time to move while allowing the bank to maintain a stable and secure experience.

Customers still using the old app do not need to open a new account. They simply need to download the official GoTyme Bank app and log in using their existing credentials. Their account numbers, balances, transaction histories and existing bank cards remain unchanged.

Customers who are not using the app can continue accessing essential banking services through GoTyme Bank’s USSD channel by dialling *120*543#. The current USSD menu enables customers to check their account or GoalSave balances, send money to any SA cell number, buy electricity, airtime, data or vouchers, and make transfers into or out of their GoalSaves. USSD does not require a smartphone.

“The retirement of the old app marks the completion of an important stage in our transition to GoTyme Bank,” says Marin Cundall, Managing Executive for Digital Experience at GoTyme Bank. “Most importantly, it does not affect our customers’ accounts or their money. Customers can move to the GoTyme Bank app using the details they already have, while USSD remains available for essential banking for those who cannot use the app.”

The GoTyme Bank app offers enhanced security, simpler navigation and greater control over everyday banking. Customers can use it to:

    • make free instant payments of up to R5,000 per transaction via PayShap to participating South African banks
    • access virtual cards for convenient and secure online payments, including Apple Pay
    • get assistance with the in-app chat
    • manage cards and security settings directly in the app; and
    • make payments, manage accounts and grow savings in one place.

“We built the app around how customers want to bank today: simply, securely and with greater control,” says Cundall. “”From free instant payments and leading savings rates to Apple Pay and enhanced security features, the GoTyme Bank app gives customers a more convenient way to manage and move their money in one place.”

Customers should download the GoTyme Bank app only from an official app store. GoTyme Bank will never ask a customer to share a PIN, password or one-time PIN (OTP) to complete the move to the new app.

Customers who have not yet moved are encouraged to download the GoTyme Bank app to avoid disruption to their app-banking experience. No new account registration is required.

Customers who need assistance can contact 0860 999 119 or visit their nearest GoTyme Bank kiosk or Customer Hub here:https://gotyme.co.za/personal/service/kiosk-locator.
