Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has officially opened applications for its 2027 Graduate Training Programme, a flagship two-year initiative designed to equip young professionals with the practical experience, technical knowledge and leadership skills needed to build successful careers in the automotive industry.

For more than four decades, Toyota has played a significant role in South Africa’s industrial and economic development through investment, skills transfer, manufacturing excellence and job creation. As a recognised Top Employer, the company remains committed to creating opportunities that support both individual growth and the broader development of the country’s workforce.

The Toyota Graduate Training Programme offers graduates a structured pathway into the world of work, combining hands-on experience with formal learning and mentorship. Participants will contribute to real business projects, collaborate with experienced professionals and gain exposure to various aspects of one of South Africa’s leading automotive manufacturers.

The Toyota Graduate Training Programme provides graduates with an opportunity to gain meaningful workplace experience while following a structured development pathway that supports both personal and professional growth. As part of a globally respected organisation and a certified Top Employer, participants will work on impactful projects, collaborate with experienced professionals and develop the capabilities required to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive business environment.

“At Toyota, we understand that the long-term success of our organisation and industry, amongst others, depends on the people we develop today. Our Graduate Training Programme provides meaningful workplace exposure, practical experience and guided learning opportunities that help graduates build the skills and confidence needed for rewarding careers. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, embrace challenges and make a positive contribution in a rapidly evolving world,” said Khaya Ngcwembe, Vice President: Human Resources Management at Toyota South Africa Motors.

At the heart of the programme is The Toyota Way – the company’s global philosophy built on the principles of Respect for People and Continuous Improvement. These principles shapes how Toyota develops its people, solves problems and drives innovation, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and lifelong learning.

The graduate programme adopts Toyota’s internationally recognised development framework, comprising:

    • 70% experiential learning through practical work assignments and business projects.
    • 20% formal learning through technical and classroom-based training.
    • 10% mentorship and coaching from experienced leaders and subject matter experts.

Applications are open to graduates from a wide range of disciplines, including Engineering, Business and Commercial Studies, Technology, Finance, Built Environment and People Management. To be considered, applicants must be in their final year of study or have recently completed a relevant qualification from a recognised institution. Candidates should demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership potential and a commitment to continuous learning.

Ngcwembe added: “We believe that investing in young talent is one of the most important ways we can contribute to South Africa’s future competitiveness and growth. Through this programme, graduates will gain valuable experience, build professional networks and become part of a global organisation committed to delivering sustainable value for customers, communities and society.”

Graduates who are ready to challenge themselves, develop world-class skills and contribute to the future of one of South Africa’s leading automotive manufacturers are encouraged to apply. Full application details and submission requirements are available here or on the poster attached.

Applications close on 21 August 2026.
