Tesla has introduced a revised version of its popular Model 3 sedan in China, marking the first update to its mass-market car lineup since the launch of the Model Y in 2020.

    1. The new Model 3 features several enhancements tailored to Chinese car buyers, including a rear display for back-seat passengers, improved acoustic system, more comfortable interior, and additional airbags.
    2. Externally, the sedan showcases sleeker front aesthetics with new headlights and distinctive C-shaped tail lamps at the rear.
    3. The updated Model 3 boasts a longer driving range, with the standard version offering a rated range of 606km based on China’s testing standards, representing a 9% increase compared to the previous base model.
    4. Tesla did not disclose specific motor output figures but provided acceleration numbers, indicating that the rear-wheel-drive base model can achieve 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds, while the dual-motor version achieves it in 4.4 seconds.
    5. The new Model 3’s battery details were not provided, but it is reported to utilize the same lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery from CATL for the base model. The increased range is attributed to weight reduction and improved aerodynamics to minimize wind resistance.
    6. Tesla has commenced taking orders for the upgraded Model 3 in China and anticipates deliveries to begin in the fourth quarter. Reservations for the new model have also opened in other markets where Tesla exports from Shanghai, including the Middle East, Japan, and Australia.
