The Zambian government and Huawei have signed an MoU to promote the country’s digital transformation agenda. The agreement was signed by Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, and Huawei’s Vice President for Southern Africa Region Phil Li at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

    1. The signed MoU aims to achieve a digitalized future for Zambia by improving Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, promoting the adoption of renewable energy, supporting innovation, and expanding access to reliable and affordable digital services across the country.
    2. President Hakainde Hichilema witnessed the signing ceremony and expressed Zambia’s commitment to working closely with Huawei and other partners from the private sector to develop a dynamic digital economy in the country. Huawei is recognized as a trustworthy and supportive partner in Zambia’s digital transformation efforts.
    3. President Hichilema emphasized that Zambia is dedicated to building a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment that allows private sector partners to grow their businesses and contribute to the country’s development. The government aims to increase private sector participation in Zambia’s economic growth.
    4. Huawei’s President for Southern Africa Region, Leo Chen, highlighted the importance of the collaboration between the Zambian government and Huawei in achieving the goals of the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP) and driving industry digitalization and ICT infrastructure development, particularly in rural areas. Building an ICT talent ecosystem is also a focus to support future development.
