With the world rapidly changing both economically and socially, leaders are hard pressed to quickly search for answers while the world continues to turn. This is why occasionally, it is helpful and perhaps counterintuitive, for leaders to pause, gather and reflect on the times. It is for this reason that  all roads lead to the east of Gauteng for the Business Leadership Conference taking place on the 7th March in Brakpan. The conference, hosted by the Lazarus Legacy Foundation, will feature a number of insights from business and political leaders.

The Business Leadership Conference is a one-day event designed for business owners, professionals, and aspiring leaders. The conference focuses on practical strategies, visionary leadership, and meaningful connections, all aimed at shaping South Africa’s business future.

The conference takes place at the back of shifting tectonic plates in global markets that have led to many businesses urgently reassessing, realigning and appropriately responding to these shifts. Without a grounding of knowledge and necessary insights, these movements may turn into unfortunate headwinds, leaving businesses in the lurch. This positions the conference as a key platform for leaders to converge and hear from experts who will guide attendees on how to turn uncertainty into opportunity.

One of the conference’s keynote speakers is Dr Mmusi Maimane, chairperson of the Standing Committee on Appropriations in the National Assembly. Other leading speakers include Herman Pillay, founder and CEO of Trade Call Investments Apparel, Carla Silva Catarino, Managing Director of B.Braun Medical South Africa, one of the leading medical technology companies.

“It is imperative that entrepreneurs are given the room and support to drive growth. Equally so, entrepreneurs must know their playing field in order to innovate and respond accordingly.” says Dr Mmusi Maimane.

This is echoed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) who have noted South Africa’s stagnant economic growth which has affected job creation. The OECD highlights that for higher levels of growth to be achieved, regulations must be revised in order to allow businesses to effectively respond to market dynamics and absorb workers with relative ease.

“The Business Leadership Conference comes at a time where the country must respond decisively to the glaring problem of unemployment especially among young people,” says Dr DA Lazarus, founder and patron of the Lazarus Legacy Foundation. “Entrepreneurship and business play a key role in tackling these problems while aiding in uplifting society and restoring people’s dignity,” he concludes.
