BYD South Africa is excited to host an experiential event designed to bring the thrill of new energy vehicles (NEVs) directly to customers. The upcoming Drive the Dream weekend is set to take place on 31 January 2026across all participating BYD dealerships, nationwide. This one-day open house offers the perfect opportunity to experience the brand’s innovative NEVs and hybrids firsthand.

The Drive the Dream weekend event aims to create awareness of BYD’s growing line-up, giving South Africans the opportunity to discover the performance, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology that make BYD vehicles stand out. Visitors can book a test drive of 2026 Car Of The Year semi-finalists including the Shark 6, BYD’s powerful new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) double-cab bakkie and the Dolphin Surf, South Africa’s most affordable fully electric vehicle, among other models. The recently launched Sealion 5 hybrid SUV will also be available for consumers to test drive.

“The Drive the Dream weekend is our way of inviting everyone to feel the future of mobility,” said Steve Chang, Managing Director of BYD South Africa. “We’ve seen incredible interest since entering the market, and this event lets customers experience the vehicles themselves – no pressure, just pure driving excitement. By getting behind the wheel, South Africans can see exactly how easy and exciting the transition to electric driving can be.”

With BYD’s expanding dealer network and ongoing roll-out of charging infrastructure, the brand is making electric and hybrid mobility more accessible to South Africans than ever before. The Drive the Dream weekend is the perfect chance to explore this future.

To add to the excitement, BYD is launching an exclusive competition for qualifying customers who visit a BYD dealership on 31January 2026. Competition entrants stand a chance to Win 1 of 10 BYD Dream Experiences to the value of R20 000 each. To participate in the competition, simply book and complete a test drive at a participating dealership near you. Terms and Conditions apply.

Book your test drive now at your nearest participating BYD dealership or visit www.byd.com/za to locate a dealership near you.
