    Mozambique to announce a billion-dollar climate deal

    Mozambique aims to secure an energy-transition pact with wealthy nations.

    1. The country plans to utilize its abundant hydro, solar, and wind potential.
    2. Renewable energy will be used to meet Mozambique’s power needs and supply electricity to neighboring countries.
    3. Mozambique intends to process battery minerals like graphite and lithium using its surplus electricity.
    4. Talks have been held with Belgium, Germany, the UK, and the UAE for funding support.
    5. The plan is expected to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
    6. Mozambique’s climate leadership sets an example for the Southern African region and beyond.
    7. The COP28 climate summit serves as a platform for showcasing Mozambique’s climate plan.
