    1. Sibanye-Stillwater, a diversified metals producer in South Africa, has signed its first power purchase agreement to buy electricity from a new wind farm in the Northern Cape.
    2. The 89 MW wind farm, which is being built near De Aar, will be the largest private wind farm in South Africa.
    3. A consortium including Red Rocket, a local developer, and Kabi Solar, a Black-owned renewable energy company, will finance and build the wind farm.
    4. The power purchase agreement guarantees that Sibanye-Stillwater will purchase the wind farm’s power for 15 years, ensuring that the project is financially viable.
    5. The wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2023 and will help to diversify South Africa’s energy mix and reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels.
    6. The project is also expected to create local jobs and to support economic development in the Northern Cape.
    7. The power purchase agreement is part of Sibanye-Stillwater’s broader commitment to sustainability and to reducing its carbon footprint.
    8. The company has set a target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and is investing in a range of renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives to help achieve this goal.
