SEDFA is inviting cooperatives to apply for the Cooperative Development Support Programme (CDSP), with applications closing on 7 March 2025. This initiative aims to support cooperatives in growing and sustaining their businesses by enhancing product quality, production efficiency, and scaling operations.

The programme offers funding for various interventions, including machinery, equipment, raw materials, and commercial vehicles essential for operations. Information technology investments are also eligible, provided they relate to the cooperative’s core functions. However, it is important to note that the programme does not cover the construction of brick-and-mortar structures.

To qualify for the funding, cooperatives must meet specific requirements. These include submitting a detailed business plan and proof of registration with SARS. Additionally, cooperatives need to provide FICA documents, CIPC registration, and evidence of their financial status, such as bank statements and financial projections.

The CDSP categorises cooperatives into three groups. Category A includes startups with a maximum turnover of R250,000, while Category B encompasses established cooperatives with a turnover exceeding R250,000. Category C consists of secondary cooperatives with a turnover greater than R500,000. Each category has distinct funding limits and eligibility criteria, including mandatory training commitments.

Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and SEDFA reserves the right to close applications once the budget is exceeded. Cooperatives that have previously received funding from this programme will not be eligible to apply again.
