As South Africans continue to navigate rising living costs and increasing pressure on household budgets, consumers are becoming more deliberate about where they spend, how they pay and which brands they engage with to maximise value from daily purchases.
FNB eBucks, Clicks, and Engen proudly announce the launch of a future forward customer ecosystem from 01 August 2026. The first-of-its-kind initiative brings together three leading brands into a single integrated rewards ecosystem spanning fuel, retail and banking. By rewarding customers for banking with FNB, fuelling at Engen and shopping at Clicks simultaneously, the collaboration creates a multi-partner ecosystem designed to unlock greater value across some of the most frequent and essential spending categories in consumers’ lives.
“Customers already spend across fuel, health, beauty, pharmacy and household categories, but these purchases are often rewarded separately. This Trio ecosystem brings them together in a single customer value proposition that rewards everyday spending more meaningfully” says Pieter Woodhatch, CEO of FNB eBucks Rewards.

The Trio ecosystem is also designed to encourage behaviours that deliver greater value to customers while strengthening engagement across all three brands. Customers who fuel exclusively at Engen, shop at Clicks and meet the monthly qualifying spend threshold ranging from R650 for FNB Aspire customers to R1,350 for RMB Private Bank customers, and pay using their physical or virtual Credit, Debit or Fusion cards can earn up to R12 per litre back in eBucks. This represents an additional R4 per litre over and above the existing R8 per litre available through current qualifying rewards behaviours.
Consumers are also becoming more deliberate about where and how they spend. This trend is reflected in Truth & BrandMapp 2025/26 research, which shows that the average South African now participates in 10.4 loyalty programmes, up from 4.6 a decade ago. Customers are increasingly consolidating spend with trusted brands and looking for ways to maximise value from routine purchases.
Woodhatch highlights that the evolution of customer behaviour is reshaping the future of loyalty programmes in South Africa. “Customers want greater value from the purchases they make every month, whether that’s fuel, household essentials or managing their finances. We’re seeing growing demand for connected rewards ecosystems that deliver benefits across multiple spending categories rather than isolated transactions.”
“The Trio ecosystem is a significant milestone for eBucks because it brings together three trusted brands in a way that rewards customers for activities they already undertake every month, while helping them stretch their budgets further,” adds Woodhatch.
The strength of the initiative lies in the complementary nature of the three like-minded brands and partners. Clicks contributes one of South Africa’s largest loyalty programmes, with more than 13 million ClubCard members and over 1000 stores nationwide, while Engen brings a network of plus 1 000 service stations with more than 1 million transactions per day. Together with FNB’s eBucks rewards programme and digital banking capabilities, the partnership creates one of South Africa’s largest integrated loyalty ecosystems spanning banking, fuel and retail.
Together, FNB eBucks, Clicks, and Engen serve millions of South Africans every month across banking, fuel, pharmacy, health, beauty and retail touchpoints, creating a rewards ecosystem designed around customers’ everyday spending habits.
“At Engen, we’re constantly looking for new ways to create more value for our customers beyond the fuel pump. By partnering with FNB and Clicks, we’re rewarding everyday behaviours through a connected ecosystem that makes it easier for customers to save on one of their biggest monthly expenses while enjoying greater value across the brands they already know and trust. This partnership reflects our commitment to delivering more rewarding experiences every time customers choose Engen,” says Enoch Hermanus, General Manager: Retail at Engen.

Fionna Ronnie, Retail Chief Marketing Officer at Clicks Group says, “The future of loyalty lies in connected ecosystems that reward customers across the brands they know and trust. This collaboration between Clicks, Engen and FNB brings our value driven partnership model to life, combining our strengths to deliver greater everyday value. Together, we’re helping customers save on one of their biggest monthly expenses while unlocking benefits across health, beauty, wellness, fuel and financial services. It’s another step in making ClubCard more rewarding, more relevant and more valuable every day.”
The Trio ecosystem reflects the evolution of loyalty programmes from standalone rewards offerings into connected ecosystems that help consumers unlock greater value from everyday spending. By linking banking, fuel and retail behaviour, FNB eBucks, Clicks and Engen are rewarding customers across some of the most frequent and essential categories in their monthly budgets.
“Customers are looking for simplicity, relevance and tangible value. The future of loyalty lies in creating connected ecosystems that make everyday spending more rewarding. By bringing together eBucks, Clicks and Engen, we’re creating a more seamless rewards experience that helps customers get more from the purchases they already make while strengthening our broader partner ecosystem,” concludes Woodhatch.
