    Drones Deployed for Crime Prevention

    September 10, 2025By Staff Writer
David De Lima, CEO of Drone Force

Vumacam, a camera surveillance company, has partnered with Drone Force, a provider of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), to enhance crime-fighting efforts by deploying drones for aerial intelligence alongside Vumacam’s ground-based systems.

This collaboration aims to extend coverage and bolster proactive crime prevention strategies, according to Vumacam CEO Ricky Croock. The integration of aerial intelligence with existing ground surveillance enhances the effectiveness of security operations.

In a recent pilot initiative, Drone Force successfully identified a fire during an aerial patrol, leading to the discovery of an individual allegedly burning stolen cables. The drone monitored the situation while ground units responded, resulting in the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of reportedly stolen items.

David De Lima, CEO of Drone Force, emphasized that the partnership offers security teams a unique vantage point. The combination of aerial and ground surveillance generates a comprehensive picture of security threats, making it difficult for criminals to evade detection.

Croock highlighted that this partnership aligns with Vumacam’s mission to provide world-class security intelligence. By integrating ground-based and aerial intelligence, they aim for quicker interventions, smarter resource allocation, and ultimately safer communities.

Drone Force uses UAS compliant with regulations from the South African Civil Aviation Authority. These drones are housed in docking stations that allow for remote operation, enabling them to launch, land, and recharge autonomously, ensuring they are ready for deployment in various weather conditions, day or night.
